Casteist remark on PM: City court junks revision petition against Rahul

Jaipur: A district court in Jaipur Tuesday dismissed a revision petition filed against leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in a case linked to an alleged caste-based remark about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, upholding a lower court order.Additional District Judge Court No. 4 of Metropolitan-II passed the order, with Presiding Officer Neelam Karwa rejecting the revision petition filed by advocate Vijay Kalandar. "The statements of the complainant and other evidence on record clearly establish that the revision petition is liable to be dismissed," the court said. In the revision plea, the petitioner argued that the trial court issued its order without properly examining the true facts of the complaint. "The accused is the Leader of Opposition in the current Lok Sabha and a responsible citizen," the petitioner argued. The petition alleged that Gandhi repeatedly changed his stated caste while delivering speeches, "thereby provoking common citizens and attempting to harm the unity and integrity of the country." On these grounds, the petitioner sought acceptance of the revision and quashing of the lower court's order. According to the case details, the complainant filed a complaint before the lower court in 2025, alleging that during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Chhattisgarh, Gandhi said PM Modi is not OBC by birth and that the BJP govt in Gujarat conferred OBC status on him.
