CAG report exposes Raj BJP govt’s financial mismanagement: Jully
Jaipur: Taking a swipe at the state BJP govt, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully Tuesday said that the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report has exposed financial mismanagement and revealed that Rajasthan was among the worst-performing states in capital expenditure.
Addressing a press conference, Jully said the issues repeatedly raised by the Opposition during Assembly proceedings were now confirmed by the CAG findings. “BJP govt created a false narrative by comparing its two-year tenure with the Congress govt’s five-year term, while the actual financial condition of the state was deteriorating. The reality is that Rajasthan is not leading in development but in borrowing. The latest CAG figures have exposed the financial mismanagement of the BJP govt,” Jully said.
He demanded that the state govt should release a white paper on Rajasthan’s financial health so that people could understand how development has slowed under the BJP govt.
Expressing concern over declining development expenditure, Jully claimed Rajasthan became one of the most backward states in terms of capital spending.
“The BJP govt managed to spend only 51.82% of its allocated development budget. When hospitals, schools and roads are not being built, where will employment opportunities come from for the youth.”
Jully claimed the BJP govt took loans of Rs 71,261 crore, which was nearly 65% higher than the budget estimate, describing it as deeply worrying for Rajasthan’s future.
Drawing comparisons with Congress-ruled states, Jully said Telangana and Karnataka were among the top-performing states in development expenditure, while Rajasthan was being pushed into a debt trap.
Questioning chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Jully said the govt owed an explanation to the people regarding the state’s worsening financial condition.
