JAISALMER: Border Security Force (BSF) is not only guarding the borders but is also aware of its social responsibility. On Friday BSF distributed scholarships to students on the premises of Tanot Mata temple. These were distributed on behalf of Tanot Mata Trust.
The chief guest of the function was former chief minister Ashok Gehlot who distributed scholarships and certificates to students from various schools of Jaisalmer.

Many dignitaries including BSF IG B R Meghwal, DIG Amit Lodha, commandant Dalveer Singh Ahelawar, MLA Chotu Singh, zila pramukh Anjana Meghwal and Pradesh Congress Committee secretary Roop Ram Dhandev were present.
A total of 66 students were given scholarships worth Rs 9.63 lakh. For the first time 12 orphans were given assistance of Rs 30,000 each. Tanot school scholarships were given to 11 children, 36 scholarships to students belonging to BPL and 19 open scholarships were distributed. Tanot school headmaster was given Rs 5,000 and government senior secondary school at Lawan was selected for Guru Shiromani award under which the school principal Shyam Sunder Bohra was given Rs 50,000. Himmat Singh who was also selected in RPS was felicitated.
