BIKANER: For the third continuous day on Thursday, supporters of
Anna Hazare from employee unions, NGOs and student unions took out rallies and organised dharnas here showing solidarity with the social activist in his fight against corruption.
Theatre artistes also joined in and staged a demonstration. In several protests in the district, workers of "Jago Party" and "Vande Mataram Manch" took out a rally and burnt an effigy of Union minister Kapil Sibal.
Students of Engineering College took out rally in support of Anna Hazare and criticized the "harsh" attitude of the Centre. Indian Against Corruption (IAC) activist Goverdan Singh, who is undergoing fast since August 16 in support of Anna Hazare, underwent a medical check-up after the district administration arrange for it.
Doctors who checked him, advised Hazare to speak minimum and take rest as his health is deteriorating. However, ignoring their advice, Singh addressed the dharna of IAC activists at regular intervals to boost the morale of the agitators.
Addressing the protesters, Singh said the IAC will continue its fight in support of Anna Hazare till his demands are met. He also alleged that the district administration is not making any arrangement towards cleaning the 'dharna' place and providing drinking water among others, despite making requests. Later, 57 activists of IAC, including women, headed by Singh, wrote messages with their blood in support of Anna Hazare, Jan Lokpal Bill and his anti-corruption campaign. Artistes of "Shreyans Jain Group" presented patriotic songs and drama at the dharna site.
