Barmer cops seize 2,758kg doda post

JAISALAMER: After authorities imposed a ban on doda post in the state, there has been a rise in smuggling of doda post. To avoid suspicion, people smuggle this stuff in luxury cars or by hiding it under other items in trucks and vehicles. One such incident has come to light in in Sindhri police station area of Barmer district on Sunday evening in which 2,758 kg doda post was found hidden under potatoes in a truck.

The value of doda post is said to be around Rs 1.25 crore and police have arrested two culprits. Barmer SP Gagandeep Singhla said that Sindhri police and a special team in a joint action seized doda post being transported in a truck and arrested two culprits. The police, following a tip-off, erected a blockade near Payla village, stopped a truck and searched it. The police found sacks of potatoes. But when the sacks were removed, 2,758 kg doda post was found in 132 sacks.
Thereafter, the police arrested Raju Khan, a resident of Champakhedi, and Nathulal, a resident of Kakarva (Chittorgarh). In the initial inquiry, culprits told that the doda post was being brought from Neemach and Mandsore (MP) and transported to Bikaner. The police are now trying to find out the person who loaded the banned stuff and the purchaser. The estimated cost of seized stuff is said to be Rs 1.25 crore. The police have lodged a case at Sindhri station.
