Jaipur: Rajasthan's Aaradhya Tailor notched up a hard-fought win in the qualification round of the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton tournament being held at Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium here on Friday.
In the U-17 girls' singles category, Aaradhya defeated Maharashtra's Sharvari 15-8, 11-15, 15-13 in a three-game encounter to move up.
In other matches of the same age group, Tuhin Badal downed Maharashtra's Mihika Pathak 15-12, 15-9, Aaradhya Dhingra trounced Maharashtra's Ankita Mangle 15-6, 15-5, while Nehal Sisodiya got the better of Maharashtra's Samanvaya 15-9, 12-15, 15-10.
In the third round match of the U-17 boys singles section, Bhavesh Bhadu of Rajasthan rallied back to beat Pushkar Girdhar of Madhya Pradesh 8-15, 15-12, 18-16, Kandarp Sharma dismissed Arth Panchal of Uttarakhand 15-4, 15-2, Devashish Prajapati accounted for Shlok Raj of Uttar Pradesh by 15-5, 15-11, Harshvardhan Manjhu. stated a fine recovery to oust Tanay Deshwal of Madhya Pradesh 12-15, 15-9, 15-4, Garvit Barwar sidelined Haryana's Arun 18-20, 15-12, 15-6 after losing the first game, while Divyansh Tomar prevailed over Siddharth S of Karnataka.
Other seeded players advanced to the fourth round of qualification. Nair thrashed Raghav Kaushik of Delhi 15-9, 15-13, Akshat Shekhawat made the light work of Delhi's Raghav Kaushik 15-8, 15-9, Manas Gehlot squeezed past Ishaan of Haryana 18-16, 16-14, Tapeshwar Poonia mauled Arjun Jagga of Punjab 15-3, 15-4, while Madhav Sharma dethroned Mohammad Nazmi of Karnataka. 17-15, 15-11.
According to the organisers, 448 matches will be played on Saturday, with sessions starting at 9 am.
