A session drowned in din
JAIPUR. The budget session in the asssembly in the past one week witnessed uproarious scenes for most of the working hours. On Friday, the demands of the agriculture and animal husbandry departments were passed by voice vote and many members, who come from the rural areas, could not get a chance to speak even a word on an issue like agriculture which is very important to the state's people and economy.
1x1 polls

After the Supreme Court order relating to the rape of a British woman in Udaipur was raised in the House, the Opposition tried to pin down the home minister who wanted to read the order of the apex court. The BJP raised slogans and refused to hear Dhariwal whenever he rose to speak. They declared that they would not hear Dhariwal till the censure motion was accepted by the Speaker and once the debate on the censure motion begins, the boycott would end. In the meantime, two first time legislators from Congress -- Raghu Sharma and Pratap Singh Khachariyawas -- said they would not allow BJP leaders -- Ghanshyam Tiwari, Gulab Chand Kataria and Rajendra Rathor -- to speak in the House.
On the other hand, many members had prepared themselves on the demands for agriculture as it concerns the poor farmer. But the interest of the farmers and the state was sacrificed over the reservation Bill passed during the BJP regime which did not get the approval of the governor. In fact, the Gehlot government knew well that the BJP was hell-bent on taking political mileage of the reservation Bill.
The remaining session of the Vidhan Sabha may also end in a fiasco if the members were unable to speak on demands of various departments.
