A 'dam' good monsoon this year

So far so good. That’s how the monsoon could be described this year if one compares it with last year’s. Though the Meteorological department had predicted a normal monsoon this year, yet the state received a good rain so far. JAIPUR: So far so good. That’s how the monsoon could be described this year if one compares it with last year’s. Though the Meteorological department had predicted a normal monsoon this year, yet the state received a good rain so far. Perhaps the monsoon seems to have overstayed in the state and thus has extended the sowing of Rabi crop.
According to PHED officials, this will also solve the water woes of the state especially for the winter.

The kharif crops have touched 95% of the target as the farmers took to the fields encouraged by the steady rain.
“The sowing was hardly 51% till July. But the spell from August 15 to the first week of September gave a new momentum to the sowing of kharif crop in the state. No wonder if the state has a bumper crop by October,” said an officer with the irrigation department on
Sunday.
Farmers in Dausa, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Sikar, Jhunjhunu and Jaipur are still sowing the kharif crop and have utilized every inch of their farming land for the kharif.
“Usually the sowing of kharif crop ends after August 15 since monsoon in the state withdraws by then. But this year has been fruitful,” said the official.
