5 get life term for killing man over suspicion in Jaisalmer
JAISALMER: In Pokaran of Jaisalmer district, Additional District and Sessions Court (ADJ) Judge Dr. Mahendra Kumar Goyal on Wednesday sentenced five convicts to life imprisonment with rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹1 lakh each in a seven-year-old murder case. One of the accused was the deceased’s real nephew. The prosecution was represented by advocate Samandar Singh Rathore.
Government counsel Samandar Singh Rathore stated that on January 12, 2019, Police Station Nachna received telephonic information that a dead body was lying in the bushes near Avay village. Upon receiving the information, the Circle Officer of Nachna, along with the police team, reached the spot where the body was found.
The deceased was identified as Kalaram, son of Kandhiram, a resident of Akawali, Fatehabad (Haryana). His throat had been slit with a sharp-edged weapon.
Nachna police registered a case and initiated an investigation. During the investigation, it was found that accused Chunnilal, a resident of Loharu (Bhiwani, Haryana), who was staying near Bikanpur Phanta, Bajju (Bikaner), suspected an illicit relationship between his wife and the deceased Kalaram and held a grudge against him.
Acting on this suspicion, Chunnilal conspired with the deceased’s nephew Patwari, son of Falaram (resident of Akawali, Sadar Tohana, Fatehabad, Haryana), and his associates—Sandeep alias Kalia, Rakesh alias Tony, and Sunil alias Senti (all residents of Fatehabad, Haryana)—luring them with money.
When Kalaram was traveling by vehicle from the Nachna–Mohangarh side, they followed him, stopped him at a planned location, and took him into their vehicle. On a dirt road leading to Avay village at night, the accused—Sandeep alias Kalia, Patwari, Chunnilal, Rakesh, and Sunil—killed Kalaram by slitting his throat with a meat-cutting knife and fled, leaving the body at the spot.Nachna police arrested all five accused.
The prosecution presented documents and witnesses in court. After hearing arguments from both sides, the honorable judge Dr. Mahendra Kumar Goyal convicted Sandeep alias Kalia under Section 302 and sentenced him to life imprisonment with a fine of ₹1 lakh, and additionally under the Arms Act to five years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of ₹50,000. The other accused were also convicted under Section 302 and sentenced to life imprisonment with a fine of ₹1 lakh each. The case was argued on behalf of the state by Additional Public Prosecutor Samandar Singh Rathore.
