11 more key intersections of Jaipur to have slip lanes for free left
Jaipur: Traffic management authorities have moved ahead with a plan to ease congestion at major intersections and road stretches across the city.
The traffic department has sent proposals to the Jaipur Development Authority to construct slip lanes at 11 locations to allow vehicles to make free left turns without waiting at red lights. At the same time, the police department has instructed the JDA and Jaipur Municipal Corporation to block cuts on around five important stretches.
“The proposal was made at JDA’s traffic control board meeting held recently. The meeting discussed ways to provide free left-turn access to drivers at various intersections and roundabouts to avoid long queues at red lights. Following this, a decision was made to create slip lanes at various locations to facilitate free left-turn access,” stated a JDA official.
The JDA will form a team of experts to study the identified locations and oversee the execution of the projects. The move is expected to improve traffic flow and reduce delays at busy junctions.
The meeting focused on closing median cuts that often interrupt smooth movement and contribute to congestion. One of the main stretches identified is the 1.8-km Bajaj Nagar Road from JKK Crossing on JLN Marg to KV School. “There are nine cuts on the median of this road. Out of these, preparations are underway to close five median cuts,” another JDA official added.
Other stretches recommended for closure of cuts include Balaji Mode to Jagatpura ROB, Gandhi Circle to Aranya Bhawan, Aranya Bhawan to Balaji Tiraha and the cut in front of Pareek College.
Another major decision taken in the meeting was to build a bridge in the C-Scheme area to reduce congestion. A senior JDA official said Yudhishtir Marg and Ramesh Marg are divided by a narrow drain, and the proposed bridge will allow direct movement between the two roads without forcing vehicles to use Jamanalal Bajaj Marg.
