Itanagar: A police constable and a drug peddler were arrested on charges of drugs peddling from Pusi Doke village in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district on Thursday evening.
On Thursday, police arrested constable Ronal Leya of the reserve police line, Aalo and drug peddler Henge Bagra with suspected heroin weighing 13.36 grams valued at around Rs 50,000, deputy superintendent of police Moge Bole said.
Acting on a tip-off about a person transporting NDPS substance to Aalo from Silapathar in Assam, a police team set up a naka at NH-13 near Pusi Doke village on Thursday, he added.
At 7.40 pm, the suspected vehicle was stopped and the accused was served a notice under Section 50 of the NDPS Act for body and vehicle search in the presence of an executive magistrate. During the search, a dark green plastic soap case containing 12.15gm of suspected heroin and one tobacco container containing suspected heroin weighing 01.20gm were recovered.
The deputy SP said vehicle used in the crime belonged to constable Leya.
