2 NSCN-IM rebels, an overground worker arrested in Naharlagun

Itanagar: Two NSCN-IM rebels and a overground worker have been arrested and Rs 3.4 lakh besides two cheques of Rs 20 lakh each have been seized from them, police said on Saturday.Acting on a tip-off that suspected insurgents were extorting money from the public in Naharlagun, a police team intercepted a Toyota Innova near E-Sector on Friday, SP (Naharlagun) Mihin Gambo said.The team apprehended Sampho Wangsa (40), a resident of Pangchau in Longding district and Chandan Bhuyan (35), an overground worker from Narayanpur in Assam’s Lakhimpur district.During interrogation, Wangsa revealed that he was a member of the NSCN-IM and held the position of revenue in-charge for the Pangchau and Wakka areas in Longding. Wangsa said he was in Naharlagun to collect money from businessmen along with another cadre, Chopsai Pansa. Based on Wangsa’s inputs, the police raided a hotel in E-Sector and arrested Pansa (55), a self-styled captain in the NSCN-IM. tnn

Thane Police Crack Multiple Burglary Cases, Arrest Two Suspects

Kalwa Police in Thane arrested two 19-year-olds, Rajveer Lahori and Krish Anil Lotwani, in connection with several burglaries, including one at Sainidhi Chemist on August 25. The suspects were traced to Ulhasnagar and admitted to seven crimes. The police recovered cash and a motorcycle. A third suspect remains at large.

Police arrest two youths in job scam

Ernakulam rural police have arrested Dhithya and Dayanand from Cherthala for allegedly duping a person out of Rs 2.80 lakh by promising a job abroad. Two others, Anzil and Amarnath from North Paravur, were also arrested for stealing over 10 sovereigns of gold from a home. Both incidents involved multiple occurrences of similar crimes.

The Polish foreign ministry stated the students were only near the protests, not participating.
