NPP MLA joins Congress in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: Ahead of the April 11 simultaneous

Lok Sabha and assembly polls

, Congress in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday received a shot in the arm with senior politician and sitting National People's Party (NPP) MLA

Tanga Byaling

joining the party with several other prominent political leaders of the state.

Byaling, present NPP Legislature Party leader who won from Nacho assembly seat in

Upper Subansiri district

for five consecutive terms along with former Konsa West MLA Yumsen Mate, were among the seven leaders to join Congress with their supporters at a function organised at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan here.

Other newcomers include former goverment officers Dr C K Gohain, Radham Sindhu and Noglin Bori.

Announcing that many more are waiting in the wings to join the party, Arunachal

Pradesh Congress Committee

(APCC) president Takam Sanjoy claimed that Congress will emerge victorious in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections with absolute majority.

Though the party is ready to fight from 60 assembly seats, it would consider poll alliance in a few seats with parties like People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) and Janata Dal (Secular).
