Notification for simultaneous elections in Arunachal issued
ITANGAR: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday issued notification for holding simultaneous elections to two Lok Sabha and 60 assembly constituencies in Arunachal Pradesh on April 11 next.
The last date of filing nominations has been fixed on March 25. While scrutiny of papers will be made on March 26, the last date of withdrawal of nominations has been fixed on March 28. Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
With the model code of conduct having already come into force immediately after the ECI announced general elections in the country along with assembly elections in a few states, the election authorities here have issued dos and don'ts to all political parties and urged the government machineries to strictly follow it.
A total of 7,94,162 voters, including 4,01,601 women, will exercise their franchise in the April 11 simultaneous polls in 2,202 polling stations spread across the state. The electoral roll includes 3,000-odd physically challenged voters. This time, 11 polling stations have been designated exclusively for women in the state.
