Cloudburst triggers floods in Arunachal Pradesh village

Itanagar: A cloudburst triggered devastating floods at a village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Shi-Yomia district and caused extensive damage on Saturday, officials said.The cloudburst in Lhallung village near Mechukha, the district headquarters, in the small hours caused massive damage to two power stations and disrupted power supply to Mechuka township and its adjoining areas, an official report said.Floodwaters also ravaged agricultural fields, standing crops, houses, water supply and livestock. However, no loss of human life was reported, the report said.Expressing serious concern on the situation, assembly speaker Passang Dorjee Sona, who represented Mechuka constituency, instructed the district administration to take immediate action and help the affected families.Instructing the administration to assess the extent of the damage, Sona directed the power and public health engineering department (PHED) to initiate the restoration process as soon as possible.Sona also communicated the urgency of the situation to chief minister Pema Khandu and his deputy Chowna Mein, seeking their assistance to address this crisis.The hydel stations located in Lhallung village serve as the lifeline of electricity supply for Mechukha township and its adjoining areas. Faults in power infra trigger outages for 30hrs in township

Over five thousand families in the Vatika India Next township in Gurgaon were left without power for more than 30 hours due to a fault in the underground cable. The power outage occurred twice, first on Sunday morning and then again on Sunday night, affecting multiple sectors. Residents have been experiencing frequent power cuts and blame both the developer and DHBVN for failing to provide uninterrupted supply. The lack of proper power infrastructure and increasing power demands are causing strain on the existing system. Residents are forced to rely on expensive DG sets for backup power.

Shunted Arunachal village seeks status quo

Villagers in Durpai, a village in Arunachal Pradesh, are unhappy with a proposal to make their village a part of Assam in order to resolve a boundary dispute. The villagers want to remain in Arunachal Pradesh and have threatened to protest if their demand is not met. The proposal has not been made public, but the villagers claim to have learned about it from officials. An MoU was signed between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in April to address border disputes.

4 villages in Dewas flooded, evacuated

Heavy rains have caused flooding in four villages in Dewas district, forcing people to leave their homes and seek shelter in schools and guest houses. The district administration has deployed teams to carry out evacuations. Low-lying areas in Sonkatch have also been flooded, with water seeping into houses in other areas of Dewas district. Barricades have been placed to keep people at a safe distance. Meanwhile, industries in Pithampur and Dewas are struggling to find skilled workers despite signing thousands of contracts for job training programs.
