INDORE: A 20-year-old youth has been arrested from Noida in UP by Indore police crime branch on Sunday for allegedly conning a retired government school teacher of Rs 30 lakh in the name of rendering her a bonus on an existing insurance policy.
Dhananjai Verma, 20, a native of Allahabad in UP was arrested from Sector-15 Noida in UP by a crime branch team from Indore on Sunday for duping the retired school teacher Nalini Reodikar.
According to a city crime branch official, the retired principal had recently reported to city police, about a phone caller posing as Aditya Singh having conned her into depositing Rs 30 lakh in two accounts of separate private banks in the guise of rendering her bonus on an existing life insurance policy.
But after getting the money from the retired principal, entire sum was withdrawn from the two bank accounts and the accounts were closed subsequently.
Working in the matter, a crime branch team of sub-inspector PN Goel and assistant sub inspector Amit Dixit found the culprit Dhananjai Verma after 8 days at a flat in Noida and arrested him on Sunday.
During primary grilling, Dhananjai admitted of posing as Aditya Singh and duping the Indore based ex-principal of Rs 30 lakh. A sum of Rs 6 lakh has been recovered by the cops, while police teams will be sent to other cities, including Allahabad, Agra, Kota and Noida to recover the remaining sum.
