Youth booked for molesting Class 12 student at B’day party

Indore: A Class 12 student accused a youth of attempting to sexually assault her after allegedly giving her an intoxicating substance at a birthday party in Ratlam. A complaint was lodged at Industrial Area police station, following which a case was registered and a search launched for the accused.Police said the incident took place on Nov 30 last year. The girl stated that she went to a friend's birthday celebration, where a youth, Munnalal approached her. She told investigators that he offered her a white, powder-like substance, insisting she taste it. After consuming it, she began feeling dizzy and stepped outside.The complainant alleged that the accused followed her, behaved inappropriately, and took photographs of her. He then allegedly pressured her for a physical relationship and threatened to kill her and circulate the photographs if she reported the matter.Police said the survivor remained silent for nearly two-and-a-half months due to fear and pressure. She later approached the police with her grandmother, following which an FIR was lodged.During the investigation, police found that the accused's real name was Saif Ali, who runs a roadside spectacles stall. A case was registered under charges of molestation, criminal intimidation and other relevant sections against him. The accused is absconding.Industrial Area police station in-charge Satyendra Raghuvanshi said efforts are underway to arrest the accused, who is on the run.
