Indore: A woman was killed and her son critically injured when a neighbour opened fire at them over an old dispute in Chandan Nagar area late on Monday night.
The police said that the accused, Zafar Khan, was arrested from Ujjain on Tuesday afternoon. Zafar had an old dispute with Shahrukh, a resident of the area, who met him on Monday at around 11 pm and had argument with him.
Furious over the argument, Zafar fired at Shahrukh. The bullet, however, hit his 50-year-old mother killing her and seriously injuring his younger brother, the police said.
Both of them were rushed to the hospital, where the woman was declared dead. The boy is stable and recovering. The accused, however fled from there, the police said.
“Zafar and Shahrukh had an old dispute and they again had an argument over it on Monday night after which Zafar fired at him. The accused was arrested on Tuesday afternoon from Ujjain,” police station in-charge Abhay Nema told TOI.
“The police also recovered a country made pistol from him. He has been booked under section 302, 307 of IPC,” said Nema.
The accused has cases of beating and criminal intimidation registered against him at two different police stations in the district, added Nema.
