INDORE: A JCB was roped in to help a pregnant woman cross a damaged bridge on an overflowing nullah in Manasa in Neemuch to eventually reach hospital for the delivery.

The video of the incident later went viral on social media platforms.

The woman identified as 30-year-old Geeta Bai Gurjar, resident of Besda village, was in labour amidst downpour in the area.

The heavy spells of showers on Tuesday (August23) made it difficult for the ambulance to reach her house in the village.

The family members asked for help from local MLA and Block Medical Officer, who arranged a JCB to help her out in passing the damaged culvert on an overflowing drain, officials claimed.

The woman after crossing the culvert was shifted to an ambulance and rushed to CHC Manasa.

The woman was having an issue in contraction and was referred to the district hospital, where she delivered a 2.5 kg baby, officials claimed.

Both the mother and the child are healthy, claimed officials. DHO Neemuch, who is in-charge CMHO, Dr Vijay Bharti said, “Because of rain, the culvert was damaged and nullah overflowed. The ambulance has small tires, and it could slip.”

“BMO along with help of local MLA arranged a JCB and she was transported on it to cross the culvert. Then she was shifted to an ambulance to a safe place on the other side of drain,” said Dr Bharti. “She was then rushed to CHC and then referred DH Neemuch,” Dr Bharti added.
