INDORE: The allegations and counter allegations by the candidates contesting for the post of president of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) president's post continued on Friday even as the high court decided on the plea of 20 members whose membership was terminated by the registrar, cooperative societies on technical grounds.
State industry minister
Kailash Vijayvargiya's camp said that in case Union minister
Jyotiraditya Scindia wins the MPCA poll this time too, there is an apprehension that he would divert funds to Gwalior, rather than spending it on Indore.
Talking to media here on Friday evening, Amitabh Vijayvargiya of Maa Ahilya Devi panel, supporting the candidature of Kailash Vijayvargiya said, "A cricket stadium is being built in Gwalior for which 29 acres of land has been acquired. Rough estimate suggests that the cost of stadium would be about Rs 200 crore whereas a sum of only Rs 40 crore was spend on the Indore cricket stadium built on eight acres of land, he alleged.
Reacting on the Friday's high court judgment on the 20 suspended members of MPCA, he said that it was good to note that the court has upheld the decision.
On the Bsecretary Sanjay Jagdale's allegation that the standards of Indore division cricket has gone down, he said that the division has not only been the champion of the T-20 match, but the team hailing from the division has won four tournaments so far.
Meanwhile, the Scindia camp reacting on the high court's judgment said it was not disheartened by the development as merely two out of the 20 members in question had voted during the previous MPCA poll in which Scindia had defeated Vijayvargiya by 72 votes. Ashok Kumat, official spokesman of Scindia camp said, "The MPCA members who have come from countries like the USA and England have already said that Scindia is a good administrator and a person with impeccable record."
Talking about the new panel, which was likely to be declared by the Scindia camp late tonight, Kumat said that while Scindia will continue to be the president, office-bearers like MK Bhargava, Narendra Menon and Alpesh Shah were likely to be retained for the posts of chairman, secretary and joint secretary, respectively. He said that while Milind Kanmadikar may replace Narendra Dua for the post of joint secretary, Dr Bharat Chhaparwal would join as a fresh candidate for the post of vice-president.
As both the rival camps were busy in the legal wrangle, the Yeshwant Club chairman, Paramjit Singh Chhabra 'Pummy' claims that he will cast the vote on behalf of the club, which is one of the institutional members of the MPCA.
Friday was the last date for depositing the form for voting for the MPCA poll and no reply was send by the office of registrar, firms & societies on the letter written by the club's secretary, Sunil Bajaj, demanding its permission voting right in place of the club's chairman, until Friday evening.
Pummy said, "I will definitely go for voting on the day on behalf of my club as I have already got my identity card for the same."
