Vehicle carrying cattle illegally seized

Indore: A vehicle loaded with livestock in an overcrowded condition was seized in Tejaji Nagar area. Police said the action followed a tip-off from Harshvardhan Singh, a resident of Ralamandal. He alerted authorities about a vehicle transporting cattle in an inhumane manner. Acting on the information, a team laid a blockade near Kalod Kartal Fata along bypass.When the vehicle was intercepted, police found it crammed with seven cattle inside. On spotting the police, the driver and his aides abandoned the vehicle and escaped, leaving the animals behind.The vehicle was seized and taken to the police station. A case was registered under the Madhya Pradesh Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act, 2004, along with the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Police said efforts are on to trace and arrest the absconding accused.
