Indore: Two unidentified men lured a vehicle driver into a deserted lane and robbed him at knifepoint in Petlawad of Jhabua district.
The driver, Yashwant, told police that he was standing near Gandhi Chowk when two men approached him, posing as passengers and asking about a bus to Ratlam. During the conversation, they gradually led him towards a narrow lane near an eatery in the old bus stand area.
Once they reached a relatively isolated stretch, the accused pulled out a knife, threatened him and forcibly snatched his mobile phone along with a silver bracelet weighing around 250 grams. The duo fled the spot immediately after executing the robbery.
The victim alerted the police soon after the incident. A team reached the spot and initiated a probe. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being scanned to identify the suspects, while local inputs are also being gathered to trace their movement before and after the crime.
The incident has heightened concern among residents, particularly as it occurred in a busy part of town during the day, pointing to the ease with which the accused executed the crime and escaped.
Police said that efforts were on to identify and arrest the accused at the earliest.
