Indore: Two cases of harassment and assault were reported in Sanyogitaganj and Gandhi Nagar areas of Indore. Police have registered FIRs in both incidents.
In Sanyogitaganj, a 19-year-old student alleged that a youth harassed her into her nursing coaching class. The youth reportedly entered the classroom, called the girl by her name, held her hand and forced her outside. He also snatched her mobile phone and threw it away. As the commotion drew attention, teachers and staff rushed in, following which the accused threatened the student, claiming he liked her and warning of dire consequences if she refused to speak to him. The girl later informed her family and approached the police.
The accused was booked following the complaint. Police said the girl and the accused were known to each other as they studied in the same school three years ago.
In another case registered at Gandhi Nagar police station, a 35-year-old woman was allegedly harassed and assaulted while she was on her way to buy groceries. The accused, a resident of Arihant Nagar, reportedly started singing on seeing the woman near a temple.
When the woman objected, the accused allegedly abused her and attacked her with a wooden axe handle. She sustained injuries on her hand, waist and back. Police have registered a case against the accused for molestation and assault.
