Mhow: Two persons were arrested for gang rape of a college student in the forest area of Bercha field firing range of Mhow.
"The survivor had reported to Badgonda police on April 14 night that she had gone to a temple inside the Bercha field firing range near Kelod village of Mhow tehsil with her friend. After coming out of the temple, when they were sitting in the forest area, two persons armed with a stick came to them and started beating them. Her friend fell on the ground and the accused duo dragged her to the deep forest area and took turns to rape her," Indore rural SP Yangchen Dolkar Bhutia told mediapersons.
A case of gang rape, assault and threatening was registered. "An SIT was formed and sketches of the accused were prepared on the basis of the clues given by the victim and her friend and a reward of Rs 10,000 was also announced. The SIT received information that two suspects were roaming in Bercha forest. They were apprehended and when interrogated, they confessed their crime," the SP said.
Mhow ASP Roopesh Dwivedi said that the arrested persons were identified as Pintu and Subhash, both residents of Kuwali village under Manpur police station area.
