Three arrested for smuggling brown sugar in Khargone
Khargone: Three persons were arrested for smuggling brown sugar and other items worth around Rs 4 lakh under Sanawad police station area of Khargone district.Sanawad police station in-charge Dharmendra Yadav told TOI, "During vehicle checking near Anaj Mandi area, police intercepted two youth riding a motorcycle who attempted to flee. After a brief chase, both were apprehended."They were identified as Pawan Verma (25), a resident of Barwaha, and Moin Sheikh (25), a resident of Sanawad. A search led to the recovery of 12.65 gram brown sugar, valued at about Rs 1.25 lakh, from their possession, he said.During interrogation, Pawan disclosed that the contraband was sourced from Amin Khan alias Maharaj of Ratlam. Based on the input, a police team arrested Amin (30) from Ratlam and seized two mobile phones worth around Rs 75,000. Amin revealed that he was getting brown sugar from Rajasthan, he said.Police also seized the motorcycle used in the transportation of drugs. A case has been registered at Sanawad police station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act..Pawan has four previous cases registered against him, while Amin has three prior criminal cases on record.
