Indore: A speeding private bus rammed into a truck while attempting to overtake near Dharad, about 10 km from Ratlam, on Saturday morning, leaving four passengers injured on Ratlam-Indore four-lane stretch.
The accident occurred around 8.30 am. The impact crushed front portion of the bus and shattered its windshield, sending passengers into panic.
Police said around 30 to 35 passengers were on board at the time of the collision. Three to four persons, including a woman, sustained injuries and were shifted to the medical college for treatment.
Soon after the accident, the bus driver fled the spot. On receiving information, Dharad outpost in-charge Deepak Damor, along with other police personnel, local sarpanch Vikramsingh Rathore and villagers reached the site. An ambulance was called in.
The mishap led to a traffic jam on the four-lane for some time, with vehicles piling up on the Ratlam to Indore side. Police later called a crane to remove the damaged bus and restore traffic movement.
Bilpank police station in-charge Ayub Khan said the truck was moving at a slow speed when the bus, driven at high speed during overtaking, crashed into it.
