Royal Holkar Family hold Uttaradhikari ceremony in Indore
INDORE: The Royal Holkar Family of Indore held a private gathering at the Malhari Martand Deosthan within the Rajwada in Indore on March 26 to seek blessings of Lord Malhari Martand for the Uttaradhikari ceremony of Yuvraj Yeshwant Rao Holkar Bahadur, in accordance with the wishes of Maharani Usha Devi of Indore.
The ceremonies were presided over by Dr Vijay Rajopadhyay, Rajguru of the Holkar Family of Indore. Guests in attendance also offered prayers and performed rituals on the occasion of Ram Navmi.
Following the ceremonies, a darbar of the noble Sardars of erstwhile Indore State was held, attended by members of the extended Holkar Family as well as Sardars, Darbaris, Darrakhdars, Thakurs, and other hereditary nobles of the erstwhile Indore State.
Speaking on the occasion, Yuvraj Yeshwant Rao Holkar said: “It is a great honour to be bestowed with this responsibility by my revered aunt, Maharani Usha Devi.
The ceremonial role of the Holkar family has evolved in the modern era, and accordingly, it will be my most sincere endeavour to carry forward our family's legacy of service in the fields of heritage conservation through the Holkar Cultural Center, handloom revival through REHWA Society and WomenWeave, and the charitable and pious works of Punyashlok Devi Ahilyabai Holkar through the Khasgi Trust."
