Indore: Reinforcing its reputation for sanitation and innovation, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has introduced a unique citywide initiative based on 4R principle: Reduce, reuse, recycle and recover.By transforming discarded scrap tyres, iron pipes, old machinery parts, and sheet metal into distinct artistic installations, the civic body has developed vibrant ‘Waste to Wonder’ exhibits across popular public locations. The corporation collaborated with local schools, universities, and non-governmental organisations to fabricate and paint a diverse inventory of sculptures.“Over 4,770 cubic feet of discarded scrap material was successfully upcycled during the design phase. Key public spaces turned into eco-art showcases include Vishram Bagh, Nana Nani Garden, Global Garden, Eurasia Public Park and Keshav Vatika Garden,” IMC commissioner Kshitij Singhal told TOI.IMC additional commissioner Prakhar Singh said these creative installations not only beautify the city’s thoroughfares but also serve as an inspiring, interactive blueprint for citizens. By demonstrating the functional lifecycle of processed junk, the project promotes community-led environmental recycling and civic participation in daily waste reduction.
