Indore: A prime accused in the Surajna MD drugs factory case, absconding since February, has been arrested by Shamgarh police along with his two associates.
Mandsaur SP Vinod Meena said that acting on a tip-off on Thursday, police teams intercepted three men near railway ground in Shamgarh as they were waiting to board a train to Delhi and Punjab to transport the contraband. The trio — Pradhan Singh, Bhagwan Singh alias Bablu and Dilip Singh — were caught and 1.245 kg of opium valued at around Rs 2.49 lakh was seized from a plastic bag they were carrying. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act.
Pradhan Singh, a resident of Nalkheda in Mandsaur district, was on the run since Feb 7 after being named the main accused in the case. Investigators said chemicals allegedly supplied by him were used to manufacture a thick MD drug mixture weighing 12.61 kg along with 102 gram of processed MD seized during the earlier raid.
Police records show Pradhan Singh has prior involvement in narcotics trafficking, including a registered case at Iklhera police station in Jhalawar district.
