Upma Singh, Pragya Singh’s elder sister, told TOI that her family and well-wishers always knew that the sadhvi was innocent. “We always had our trust on the judicial system. Finally, the justice is served,” she said, claiming to have come to know about the
NIA move through phone calls.
Earlier, during the day, the NIA had dropped the names of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and four others as 'accused' in the September 2008 Malegaon blasts case, in its charge-sheet filed before a Special Court in Mumbai
The dropping of charges against Pragya sets the stage for her early release from jail. She was arrested on October 23, 2008.
“We are happy that she can now walk free. It is sad that she was incarcerated for so long that her body broke down. But her spirits and willpower never buckled,” Upma Singh said.
She claimed that the family was waiting for Pragya Singh to return and regain her strength.
Upma Singh had been camping in Ujjain since Simhastha began on April 21 at the camp Vande Mataram. The camp has life-size photographs of Pragya Bharti, displaying messages about her patriotism and spirituality.
