Police recover Rs 23.3 lakh stolen from car in Khargone

Khargone: Khargone police recovered Rs 23.30 lakh that was stolen from a car of an accountant of agricultural trader on Tuesday afternoon.Superintendent of Police, Ravindra Verma, told mediapersons that the theft occurred on April 21 when Tahir, an accountant working with Sakshi Sales firm owned by Dinesh Jaiswal, withdrew Rs 27 lakh from a bank. After paying Rs 2.70 lakh to a trader, he had kept the remaining cash in his car. While stopping near a tea stall, he left the vehicle unlocked for a few minutes and when he returned, he found the bag containing remaining Rs 23.30 lakh stolen.The police registered a case and set up a special investigation team involving multiple police station units, CCTV control room, and the cyber cell. For five days, the team scanned more than 250 CCTV footage clips across Khargone, Dhar, Indore, Dewas, Shajapur, and Rajgarh districts to trace the suspects.The footage revealed that two persons on a motorcycle had been following the complainant from the bank before executing the theft. By tracking their escape route through various locations, police identified the accused as members of the Kadiya Sansi gang from Rajgarh district, said SP."An operation was launched in the Boda police station area of Rajgarh district, where police teams conducted raids at multiple possible hideouts. Acting on a tip-off, the police reached a forest area between Gulkhedi and Pachor, where the accused were reportedly planning to divide the stolen money. Sensing the presence of police, the accused managed to escape through dense forest terrain", the SP said.Police recovered the entire stolen cash of Rs 23.30 lakh, four cheque books issued by the bank and the bag used in the crime from the spot.Local trader association felicitated the police team and announced Rs 51,000 for the police welfare fund, appreciating their swift and effective action.
