Police file 550-page chargesheet against 6 in businessman murder case
INDORE:
Agarwal had been shot at by sharp shooters on January 16, 2019 when he was walking to his car parked at a busy Vijay Nagar street.
The police also submitted that six accused were absconding in the case, against whom the investigation was pending and a supplementary chargesheet will be produced before the court at a later stage.
The six arrested accused included Rohit Sethi, Sudhakar Maratha, Yogesh Gehlot, Rohit Suryavanshi, Avinash alias Tarzan and Bhaskar Trivedi. Among the accused who are absconding are Devilal Jat, Raju Nagar, Santosh Gehlot, Pradeep Bana and Ishwar Bhaya and Arpan.
The prosecution submitted the chargesheet which contained a list of 90 witnesses in the case including Sandeep Agarwal’s employees, his wife, eyewitnesses, shopkeepers of the crime spot, forensic experts, police officers etc.
“We have outlined the entire prosecution theory how Rohit Sethi had a financial dispute with Sandeep Agarwal. He owed Sethi Rs 17 crore. When Agarwal refused to pay the amount, Sethi decided to hire Sudhakar Maratha to kill him. Maratha had received Rs 10 lakh cash and was due to receive 22 ‘bigha’ land for the murder. Maratha in turn hired shooter Tarzan to kill him,” district prosecution officer Mohammad Akram Sheikh said.
The prosecution also submitted on record the financial statements and records of Rohit Sethi in support of the allegations. The six accused have been charged under IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder), 302 (punishment for murder), 34 (criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) and Section 25 and 27 of Arms Act. The chargesheet was produced before the court of judicial magistrate first class Aman Singh Bhuria, who will decide the date for beginning of the trial.
