Online IPL betting setup busted, five arrested

Indore: A late evening raid near Star Square has exposed an online betting setup, with Khajrana police arresting five men, who were wagering on an IPL match using mobile phones.Acting on a tip-off received by Khajrana police station in-charge Manoj Sendhav, a police team reached the spot, surrounded the suspects and detained all five. The accused were picked up from a green belt area where they had formed a circle and were placing bets on the Delhi Capitals versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru game.During questioning, the accused told police that the group was placing multiple bets linked to match outcomes, including win-loss predictions and other in-game stakes. Those arrested have been identified as Veer Singh Sanwaliya of Khajrana, Dinesh Rathore of Suraj Nagar, Angad Patel of Siddhi Vinayak Colony, Rohit Parmar of Ganeshpuri and Sachin Solanki of Chamar Mohalla.Investigators said the betting operation was being run entirely through mobile phones, with the accused connected to an online platform.The group had allegedly created an ID in Angad's name using a link referred to as ‘Play Adda', through which transactions and accounts were maintained. Police pointed out that the link being used for the betting activity had already been banned by the govt.Mobile phones used in the operation along with some cash have been seized. Police were examining digital trails to establish whether the accused were linked to a larger betting syndicate or operating independently.
