Indore: A 28-year-old man died and two were critically injured in a motorcycle crash on a dark stretch near Moondi in Khandwa district late Monday night.
The man,
Vijay Singh, a tailor from Dait village was riding back from a wedding in Mandla village with Rajendra Singh, 35, and 12-year-old Suraj Singh when their bike crashed into a heap of gravel dumped along the roadside. The pile, locals said, had been left without any warning signs, reflectors or barricades, making it impossible to spot in the dark.
The impact flung all three on the road. They were rushed to government hospital in Moondi, where Vijay Singh died during treatment.
Angry residents blamed the road contractor for leaving construction material unsecured on a poorly-lit road. Local leaders protested against the incident and demanded an FIR against those responsible for the lapse. Police said they have initiated a probe to determine liability.
Vijay Singh's last rites were performed by his family members on Tuesday.
