MP college admissions: Over 1.3 lakh seats allotted in first round
Indore: More than 1.32 lakh students across Madhya Pradesh have secured allotments in the first phase of state’s online higher education admission counselling process for 2026-27 academic session.
According to higher education department, 1,07,075 undergraduate students and 25,123 postgraduate students have been allotted seats in various government and private colleges across the state.
The first round undergraduate seat allotment list was released on Wednesday, ending the wait for thousands of aspirants. Students allotted seats in the first round can complete online fee payment between May 20 and May 26. Officials said that allotments would stand cancelled if fees was not deposited within the deadline, and such seats would be added to the vacant list for the next counselling round.
Data released by the department showed that till May 15 while closing of online registrations for admissions, a total of 2,30,942 students registered for admissions across the state.
This includes 1,42,886 registrations for undergraduate courses, 36,384 for postgraduate programmes and 51,672 registrations for NCTE courses. A total of 1,96,523 students completed college choice filling, while verification of 1,80,803 applications has already been completed.
The department stated that the admission process is being conducted entirely through an online and mobile-friendly platform, enabling students to complete registration, document verification and choice filling from home.
OSD admissions, Tulsiram Dahayat, said that the department has focused on making the admission process transparent, accessible and student-friendly through the online system. He said that students allotted colleges in the first round must complete fee payment and reporting between May 20 and May 26 to confirm their admissions.
The allotment list for postgraduate courses will be released on May 21, while registrations for NCTE courses, including BEd programmes, will continue till May 30.
Education experts said that the second phase of counselling will begin from May 28 after publication of vacant seats on the portal. Students who did not receive allotments in the first round, or those who did not register earlier, will be eligible to participate in the next phase. The second round UG allotment list will be declared on June 7, followed by the CLC round for vacant seats from June 15.
In Indore, competition for admissions to leading institutions such as Holkar Science College and Government Arts and Commerce College is expected to remain high in popular courses like Biotechnology, Computer Science, Economics and Political Science
