INDORE: Late night commuters beware of taking lift from two-wheeler riders. Chance are one may get robbed of valuables. The city police arrested a youth, Sandip, 22, from Pardeshipura area, who gave the lift to a private company employee Vikram Soni on a motorcycle from Vijay Nagar area on June 13 night, but robbed Soni of Rs 3,400 cash and two cellphones worth Rs 10,000.
According to Pardeshipura police station in charge Vinay Arya, “Soni, who works in a food products company and often goes on tour to cover assignments, was waiting at Vijay Nagar crossing late on June 13 night hoping to get a lift for home in Chatribag locality. Two mobike-borne riders Sandip and his friend Manish stopped the vehicle near him promising to give Soni the lift to Chatribag. ” Promptly paying the two the amount, Soni rode the motor-cycle after which the two took the victim to Nanda Nagar and robbed him of two mobile sets and cash. Soni reported the matter to Pardeshipura police on June 14, after which the cops arrested Sandip on Monday.
“Sandip confessed to robbing Soni of Rs 3,400 and two cell phones to buy Nitravet,” Arya said.Efforts are on to arrest another accused Manish, who is still on the run.
