Man killed in attack by neighbours over cow dung dumping
INDORE: A 50-year-old man died as his neighbours allegedly assaulted him with swords and iron rods after a dispute over dumping cow dung at Sarwad Jamunia village in Ratlam district.
The attack took place on Wednesday morning under Bilpank police station limits when 48-year-old Rajubai Gurjar had gone near her house to dump cow dung in a pit.
According to the victim’s family, women from the neighbouring house of Amarsingh Gurjar objected and got into an argument with her, which soon escalated into a violent clash.
Amarsingh’s sons allegedly attacked Rajubai, her son Vimal and husband Kailash. Kailash died after the attack while four of Rajubai’s fingers were chopped off when she was trying to save her husband. Their son Vimal suffered head injuries, police said.
Vimal alleged that Amarsingh, his sons Omprakash and Anil, along with women from the family, attacked them with swords and iron rods. He said that they disputed ownership of the area behind their house, insisting it was meant to be used as a pathway.
Bilpank police station in-charge Ayyub Khan said a case was initially registered for attempt to murder against six people, but murder charges were added after Kailash’s death. Police have taken two accused into custody and launched a search for the remaining.
