Two peddlers held, drugs worth Rs 40 lakh seized
Indore: Indore crime branch on Monday arrested two persons and recovered MD drugs worth Rs 40 lakh (international market value) from their possessions.
"Under 'Operation Prahaar', the accused, Amir Gouri and Ayan Khan, were caught while attempting to flee on a motorcycle without a number plate," additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya said, adding that acting on a tip-off, the crime branch team was on a lookout for the duo in MR-4 Road area.
During a search, police recovered approximately 88 gram of MD drugs from the accused. The drugs were seized, senior police official said.
"The crime branch has registered a case under Sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act against the accused and is conducting further investigation to arrest other members of the syndicate, if any," the DCP said.
Senior officials of Indore police commissionerate had earlier issued directives to the crime branch to intensify its crackdown on drug trafficking and arrest those involved in such activities.
