Mhow: A leopard cub was rescued from roadside forest area near Choral dam of Mhow tehsil on Saturday. The cub was spotted by passersby from a nearby village. They informed Badgonda police and the forest office in Mhow, following which a team rescued the cub in the afternoon.Mhow forest range officer Nayan Kumar told TOI, "The forest where the cub was found is near Jamkhurd village, which falls under Naharkheda forest beat of Mhow range. The cub is 20 to 25 days old and it was probably lost in the forest while accompanying its mother."He said, "In anticipation that its mother was nearby, we were hiding about 100 metres away from the cub so that it could be taken by its mother but nothing happened in four hours. So, we decided to rescue it and feed milk so that it doesn't get affected by scorching summer in a state of dehydration."A medical examination of the cub was conducted at Mhow veterinary college on the directions of seniors. After receiving a report from the veterinary doctor, it was shifted to Van Vihar in Bhopal, where proper care of it will be taken, the range officer said.
