INDORE: State industries minister Kailash Vijayvargiya group on Saturday tried to put Union minister for state and Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) president
Jyotiraditya Scindia on the mat over the issue of association expenditure at the closed-door annual general body meeting at Holkar stadium.
As the meeting progressed, Indore Division Cricket Association (IDCA) secretary and managing committee member Amitabh Vijayvargiya and Manish Shrivastava-both Kailash loyalists-trained guns on Scindia, raising questions over expenditure, a MPCA member, on condition of anonymity, said.
They also questioned the MPCA for giving more than 10 life memberships, saying that the scrutiny committee in fiscals 08-09 and 09-10 had not recommended any life membership, he said. The duo expressed shock over making such a huge number of people life members in one go, he added.
In his reply, Scindia sought to make it clear that accounts pertaining to expenditure were up-to-date. Nothing should be read into it, he added. Under fire, the Scindia camp hit back at Vijayvargiya's group with Raju Chauhan, alleging that he lost the IDCA president election to the industries minister because of goondaism. Jehangirabad Cricket Club, Jabalpur, president Achal Singh Gaur said that the Jabalpur Division Cricket Association (JDCA) has become a private limited of MLA Nishith Patel's family with two schools and two clubs of the MLA part of the JDCA. Alleging that there is nepotism in the JDCA, he stressed the need for curbing it immediately. At the meeting, it was decided that the MPCA life members would be given ID card and a tie having the Association logo. It was also agreed upon that the annual fund allocation to the district and division associations would be raised by more than Rs 20,000, a MPCA member said.
Suggestions to send a MPCA observer to oversee the divisional-level and district-level elections also came up for discussion. Union minister for state and MPCA president Scindia, Madhya Pradesh industries minister and IDCA president Vijaywargiya, general secretary Sanjay Jagdale, MLA Ashwin Joshi, MPCA chairman M K Bhargava, and MPCA secretary Narendra Menon attended the meeting.
BCCI lauded state for camp success: Scindia Union minister Scindia said that the BCCI has appreciated MP for organizing successfully U-14 Central Zone camp at Indore. After inaugurating the residential cricket academy at Holkar stadium, he said other states were asked to follow the state to hold such camps. He said 14 teenagers were taken from different parts of the state and were being trained at the residential cricket academy. The association would take care of all expenses that go in honing talents of boys and other needs. Cricketer Amay Khurasiya will coach the boys, Scindia told reporters.
Five players from the state, Naman Ojha, Anand Rajan, Mohnish Mishra, Harpreet Singh Bhatia and Ankit Sharma played in the IPL, he said, adding that MP team won six out six matches in England and eight out nine matches in Sri Lanka.
Scindia said Rs 75,000 would now be paid to all districts in place of Rs 50,000 for the development of cricket in the state. He said the BCCI has approved the wicket of Ranital at Jabalpur and ground in Sagar is ready. At other places, the process is on for ground development, he added.
