Khargone: A motorcycle transporting iron rods lost balance causing a rod to pierce the neck of pillion in Anand Nagar area of Khargone city on Wednesday morning. The victim was severely injured and later underwent a successful surgery in Indore.
A resident of Anand Nagar, Saddam (30), was travelling with a companion on a motorcycle, carrying iron rods for construction work. Saddam was seated in the rear, holding the rods on his shoulder. While crossing a speed breaker and giving way to a school bus, the motorcycle lost balance. Due to the sudden jerk, a bent end of one rod pierced his neck.
Soon after the incident, a crowd gathered at the spot. As the rod was long, locals cut a portion of it to help safely transport the injured man to district hospital. Locals alleged that despite calling 108 ambulance service, it did not arrive even after an hour, forcing them to take the victim to the hospital on their own.
At district hospital, doctors provided primary treatment but refrained from removing the rod due to the risk of damaging the windpipe or food pipe. The patient was then referred to Indore
Jabir Khan, who accompanied the injured man, said that they arranged a private ambulance and took Saddam to MY Hospital in Indore, where doctors successfully performed surgery and removed the rod on Wednesday evening. tnn
