Inter-state gang of ‘hi-tech’ thieves busted, 3 arrested

Indore: Lasudia police on Tuesday busted an interstate gang and arrested three persons, who had been committing thefts in over 10 states across the country using high-tech equipment.The mastermind of the gang Anoop Singh has over 70 cases registered against him in 10 different states. He accepted committing thefts in different parts of the city with the help of his accomplices. He had also made away with cash and jewellery worth Rs 14.25 lakhs from the house of assistant commissioner urban administration Rajeev Nigam in scheme number 114 of Lasudia in February last year.During investigations police checked the CCTV footage of the nearby area and found that the accused had used a silver hatchback car to commit the crime. The car could be tracked till Sehore but was not seen after it. Based on the information, it was believed that the accused lived near Bhopal. Officials formed a team and two constables were living in Bhopal undercover to investigate the crime. During this, they received a tip off that the car is in a farmhouse in Chuna Bhatti area of Kolar in Bhopal. Acting on the information SI Sanjay Bishnoi and ASI Bhupendra Gurjar and four others reached the spot. The suspects Anoop Singh, Abhishek Singh, Amit Singh, all residents of Bhopal were arrested and booked under relevant sections.Police recovered Rs 6 lakh gold and silver jewellery along with expensive watches and walkie talkies used to commit the crime. Equipment used to melt gold and some high tech items were seized from them. The accused told police during interrogations that they did not use mobile phones while committing the crime and communicated on walkie talkies.During investigations it was found that the accused owns a luxury farm house in Bhopal and the accused do not commit any business. Police suspect that they must have purchased it using the stolen money. Officials said that the accused are being interrogated about the crimes committed by them and about the stolen items. TNN
