Indoreans feel heat round the clock as warm nights set in
Indore: The city is witnessing a steady rise in temperature, with heat now extending into the night and evening hours, reducing the usual relief. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 39.5 degrees Celsius, while the minimum settled at 24.4 degrees Celsius, marking a rise of two degrees in night temperature. A day earlier, the minimum was recorded at 25.1 degree Celsius, indicating fluctuating but consistently warm conditions. The impact is visible on daily life, as streets remain largely deserted between 2 pm and 4 pm due to intense heat. While heatwave conditions are not currently prevailing, the absence of cooler nights has added to discomfort levels.Met department has indicated that dry weather will persist in the coming days, with temperature likely to rise by another two to three degrees. Though a yellow alert for heatwave conditions on April 22 and 23 has been withdrawn, the current trend suggests a gradual intensification of heat.Across Madhya Pradesh, the situation is more severe in some regions. Cities like Dhar have already recorded temperature around 41 degrees Celsius, while several others have crossed the 42 degrees Celsius mark. For the first time this season, a "warm night" alert has been issued for nine districts, including Bhopal.
A warm night is defined as a condition where the minimum temperature remains 4.5 to 6.4 degrees above normal, along with day temperature at or above 40 degrees Celsius. Under such conditions, nights fail to provide adequate cooling, prolonging heat stress. With both day and night temperatures on the rise, residents across the state are bracing for more intense conditions in the days ahead.
