Indore voter list finalised: Over 3.8 lakh names removed after summary revision

Indore: Following completion of the Special Summary Revision (SSR) process, the final voter list for Indore district revealed a significant decrease in the total number of voters, dropping from 28,67,294 at the start of the process to 24,86,996 — a net reduction of 3,80,298 voters.The final list comprised a balanced demographic spread with a notably healthy gender ratio of 986. As per the new data, Indore district now has 12,52,332 male voters, 12,34,569 female voters and 95 third gender voters. The special categories included 12,255 persons with disabilities (PwD) voters, 461 NRI voters and 1,788 service voters. There were also a total of 11,664 voters aged 85 and above. As per the official records, the district has 3,210 polling stations located within 1,443 buildings.The reduction was the result of a rigorous verification process. Between Nov 4 and Dec 18, the administration focused on removing ineligible entries. Initially, 4.47 lakh names were removed due to duplication or lack of verification. Subsequent hearings for 6.78 lakh voters with ‘no mapping' or logical errors led to the disqualification of an additional 5,108 people, while 551 voters transferred their names to other districts.Simultaneously, the administration added 84,293 new names, including 70,227 young voters (Form 6) and 14,066 voters who transferred into the district from elsewhere (Form 8).The revision had a more pronounced impact on urban areas. The five major urban constituencies (Indore-1 to Indore-5) saw a combined removal of 2,77,694 names. In contrast, the rural constituencies of Sanwer, Depalpur, and Mhow saw a total reduction of 62,083.District election officer Shivam Verma, in a meeting on Saturday, informed representatives of recognised political parties that while the final list was published, the process for additions and transfers remained open. Citizens whose names were removed, or new voters who missed the deadline, could still apply via Form 6 at the election office or through the online portal.
