INDORE: Indore district bagged five titles during the inter-district badminton championship organized at Nehru Stadium on Thursday. The event was organized by Uma School. Indore romped to title victories in Girls U14, Girls U17, Boys U17, Girls U19 and Boys U19 categories, while Dhar won Boys U14 title.In the Girls U14 category; Indore's Shambhavi Narulkar defeated Dhar's Khushi Sen 21-18, 21-13, to give Indore a 1-0 lead. Shambhavi, then teamed up with Shavi Bhatnagar to knock down the team of Khushi and Ayushi Dubey 21-15, 21-15 and give Indore 2-0 lead. The team ousted defending champions Dhar in the summit clash.Meanwhile; Dhar registered a 2-0 victory over Indore district in Boys U14 category, with Dhar's Naksham Bhakar defeating Indore's Aryaman Goyal 21-19, 21-18 in the first match of the tie. Later, the duo Aditya Chauhan and Paramveer Yadav beat Indore's Aryaman and Prajwal Malalkar 21-12, 21-11 to give Dhar their solitary title of the championship.In the Girls U17 category, Indore's Radhika Gokhale beat Dhar's Harshita, and later with Surbhi Joshi, beat the duo of Harshita and Dipika to give Indore their second title of the championship. Indore's Mihir Kutumbhle defeated Dhar's Sparsh Pal 21-10, 21-10 and later teamed up with Vatsal Nyati to beat Dhar's team of Krish Pal and Vinayak 21-17, 21-4; to carry Indore to a title victory in the Boys U17 category.
Indore's Tanishka Malalkar notched up a hard-fought 22-24, 21-14, 21-14 victory over Khandwa's Amishi Jain and teamed up with Sanjeevani Marathe to beat Amishi and Shubhi Mehta 21-7, 21-10, to guide Indore their fourth title.There was no respite for Dhar in Boys U19 final as well. Indore's Amit Verma defeating Dhar's Kunal Rajwat 21-13, 21-12 to give Indore a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three tie. Amit later paired up with Austin Nathanial to beat Kunal and Rhythm Harda 21-12, 21-13.
