INDORE: India Karman Kaur Thandi and Prerna Bhambri along with Great Britain’s Katy Dunne and Ukraine’s Anastasiya Vasylyeva have secured their position in the top four semifinalist in the singles category of the Eicher ITF Women International Tennis Tournament, being played at Indore Tennis Club here on Thursday.
In the first quarter final played between Karman Kaur and top ranked Kei Shu Liv Sun from China, Karman easily defeated the by breaking Sun’s service by 6-0.
While in the second set Sun tried her best to come back in form but Karman’ aggressive technique and service did not let Sun score much and was defeated by 6-4. Sun hold 426 rank in world ranking while Karman hold 787 rank.
In the second quater final 290 ranking, top seeded Great Britain’s Katy, defeated India’s Dhruti venugopal by 6-4, 6-4. In the third quarter final Ukraine’s Anastasiya drubbed fifth seeded Silvia Njiric from Croatia by 6-2, 6-4. While in the last quarter final, India’s seventh seeded player Prerna defeated India’s Natasha Pahla with two straight away sets.
In the first semi-final of doubles tournament Veronika and Anastasiya defeated fourth seeded top dual from Bosnia Harzegovina.
While in the doubles tournament’s final match to be played on Friday, top seeded players from Ukraine, Veronika Kapshay and Anastasiya Vasylyeva and India’s Dhruti Venugopal and Karman Kaur would play against each other.
