In-charge principal dies by suicide on school premises
Indore: An in-charge principal of a govt school in Bhavsa, under Shahpur cluster of Burhanpur, died allegedly by suicide due to severe health complications.
He was found dead at the school’s restroom on Sunday night. He was missing from his residence since Sunday afternoon, prompting a search by family members and local residents. Later that evening, villagers discovered his body inside the school premises. A Shahpur police team recovered the body, and a postmortem examination was conducted on Monday before the remains were handed over to his relatives.
The police recovered a two-page suicide note, labeled as an “agreement” from the spot.
In the note, the principal detailed his ongoing physical ailments, stating that severe pain extending from his jaw to head and eyes had become unbearable. He noted that he was suffering from high myopia, which caused a significant reduction in his vision, and had been diagnosed with cerebral and cerebellar atrophy.
These conditions caused frequent dizziness, restricted his mobility, and made executing his official duties impossible.
Shahpur police station in-charge Akhilesh Mishra confirmed the details of the incident, validating that the principal took the step due to prolonged medical illness. “The principal expressed apologies to his parents, siblings, wife, daughter and son. He requested his father, brother and brother-in-law to support his wife and children,” Mishra said.
