IMC immerses truckloads of idols at Jawahar Tekri

Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Friday immersed more than 100 truckloads of Ganesh idols collected from different parts of the city. The civic body had set up hydraulic platforms to ensure the process is concluded with due respect and while keeping the religious sentiments intact.According to mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava and IMC commissioner Harshika Singh, more than 100 trucks loaded with Ganesh idols were transported to a pond in Jawahar Tekri that was filled with rainwater. IMC, which set up a conveyor belt and hydraulic platforms made in its own workshop without any additional expenses, also roped in five earthmoving machines to lift big idols safely and immerse them in the pond.At Jawahar Tekri, priests performed rituals before idols were immersed using advanced machinery. According to senior IMC officials, the conveyor belt that can rotate 180 degree was installed at the pond to ensure proper immersion of Ganesh idols without piling the statues at one place. Hydraulic platforms were attached with cranes that lifted the idols and immersed the same in the ponds without causing any damage.In the Anant Chaturdashi procession carried out last night, the tableau of Rajkumar Mill secured first position while Malwa Mill and Hukumchand Mill respectively got second and third award. Kalyan Mill and Hope Textile Mill were given special prizes. IMC has collected tonnes of worship material including flowers, coconut, essence stick packets and earthen lamps that the civic body is directing for disposal.“Civic body had made all arrangements, including collection of worship material in Nirmalya Kund that will be disposed while some items including flowers and earthen lamps will be recycled to make manure, essence sticks etc,” IMC additional commissioner Siddhartha Jain said.

Green farewell: Ganesha idols immersed in artificial ponds

Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) in India set up artificial ponds for the eco-friendly immersion of Lord Ganesha idols during the 10-day celebration. More than 4,000 idols were immersed, with the highest number of immersions taking place on Thursday. Concerns have been raised about the lack of monitoring and awareness among the public. Environmentalists also criticize the shallow depth of the artificial ponds. Similar initiatives have been taken in other cities such as Berhampur, Surat, and Nagpur, where artificial ponds are being created for idol immersion. The aim is to prevent pollution and promote safe disposal of idols during festivals.

Mumbai Police to deploy more than 19,000 personnel for immersion of Ganesh idols on Anant Chaturdashi

Mumbai Police will deploy over 19,000 personnel, including officers, to ensure security during the upcoming Ganesh idol immersion processions and Eid-e-Milad processions. Muslim organizations have agreed to postpone their processions to Friday to accommodate the coinciding events. The security personnel will include constables, officers, and senior officers. Traffic Police will manage traffic flow, and CCTV cameras will monitor the processions. Control rooms will be established to respond to any emerging situations.
