Illicit liquor worth lakhs seized in Jhabua
Indore: Jhabua Kotwali police on Sunday seized illicit liquor worth lakhs of rupees that was being transported in a mini truck.
Jhabua SP Agam Jain said that Kotwali police intercepted a vehicle while carrying out checking and recovered 1200 crates of beer (around 14,400 litres) valued approximately Rs 34 lakh. The vehicle worth around Rs 16 lakh was also seized.
Jain said that two persons ---Prakash Pitambar Chauhan and Giladar Khumla Chauhan, both residents of Dobalajhari district in Alirajpur were arrested during this operation.

He said that they had received a tip off about the vehicle. A team was formed and checking drives were conducted across the city when the suspected vehicle was intercepted. Since Jhabua is on MP- Gujarat border, many illegal liquor activities are reported in the area.

The Nashik food and drugs administration (FDA) seized sweets worth over Rs 3 lakh that were being transported from Gujarat without following storage rules. The FDA official mentioned keeping a close watch on sweets in the markets to ensure they are not harmful. The action was taken jointly by the FDA and Nashik Rural police. In another incident, the FDA seized food packets worth Rs 2.1 lakh that were made from edible oil and falsely claimed to be used in preparing milk-based sweets.
Malegaon cops seize gutka worth `1.7 lakh
The Malegaon police conducted 11 raids on pan and grocery shops in Nashik, seizing gutka worth Rs 1.7 lakh. Despite regular raids, people continue to smuggle gutka from neighboring states and sell it discreetly. FIRs have been registered against the suspects under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. The superintendent of police instructed all police stations to strictly enforce the ban on gutka. Special squads have been set up to trace the sale of these products.
