Harassed woman approaches in-charge DIG against daughter-in-law

INDORE: A woman approached in-charge DIG on Tuesday claiming that her daughter-in-law had harassed her family members and had demanded a sum of Rs 30 lakh from them.

The woman identified as Asha Arora, resident of scheme number 114, approached the in-charge DIG

Harinarayan Chari Mishra

during a public hearing at his office claiming that her family members were being harassed by her daughter-in-law for past few months.

“My son was married to Sonal on February 8, 2014. Their married life turned into sour relationship since they had frequent fights, soon after the wedding. A few months ago, Sonal had another quarrel with my son and both of them decided that they didn’t want to live together. Sonal left our house and went to live at her father’s place in

Shobhapur

of Betul district,” said Arora while speaking to TOI.

She added that for the past few months, Sonal and her family members have been troubling her.

“They have demanded a sum of Rs 30 lakh from us and also threatened us of dire consequences if we will not do so. Sonal’s grandfather

Girish Chand Khosla

and her father

Suresh Khosla

had come to our house on May 15 and asked for money. They also said that they would register fake dowry harassment complaints against us if we did not give in to their demands,” said the woman.

The in-charge DIG has taken note of the matter and handed it over to Mahila Thana in-charge Jyoti Sharma. Mishra has asked her to look into the matter and take appropriate action in this regard as soon as possible.
